Privacy notice

Who we are

What we collect

• Your first name and surname.
• Your mobile number or email address, to sign you in and recover your account.
• Your preferred language, province, local municipality or nearest town, which best describes you, sector of interest and age band.
• Optionally: your gender, a training group code, and how you heard about the Academy.
• Your course progress, quiz answers, game choices, ratings and anything you write in your learning journal.

We do not collect your identity number, race, health or disability information, exact address or employer name. If you need an accessibility accommodation, ask us at info@isd.org.za.

Why we use it

• To run your account and save your progress.
• To produce anonymous statistics. Statistics shared outside ISD are always combined, and any group smaller than 10 people is hidden.
• With your agreement, to contact you about your courses and ISD Academy news.
• Only if you choose: to send you news about ISD's wider work, and to ask you for feedback.

Who sees it

Authorised ISD staff only. Sponsors see anonymous, combined statistics for the cohorts they fund, never names, contact details or individual answers. If you enrol through your employer, your employer sees only whether you completed the course, and you are told this before you enrol. We never sell or share your contact details. We do not use advertising trackers.

Your rights

• Download your data from your profile page at any time.
• Unsubscribe from any messages at any time. This never removes your courses or progress.
• Delete your account from your profile page. You are signed out at once, and your account and progress are removed 14 days later; signing in again before then keeps them. Anonymous statistics are kept.
• Complain to ISD at info@isd.org.za, or to the Information Regulator.

Security and storage

Connections are encrypted. Learners sign in with their email address, without a password. Administrators confirm a one-time PIN sent to their email, and every administrator view and export is logged.
